Anthropic has started inviting Claude users to voluntarily share recordings of their voice conversations to help train and improve its AI models.

The new prompt appears when you use Claude's voice features and explicitly asks for permission to use voice data for training. "Allow us to use your voice data to improve our AI models," the message reads. It adds that audio recordings and voice chat data help Anthropic's models understand and respond to speech better, and that the feature can be turned off or the data deleted at any time in settings.

The choice stays with the user

The good news is that participation is entirely optional. Users can pick "Allow" or "Not now," and there is a dedicated toggle within the privacy settings.

Interestingly, voice training is kept separate from Anthropic's existing option to use regular chats and Claude Code sessions for training. That means you could permit training on your voice conversations while keeping text chats and Claude Code sessions excluded — or the other way around.

A separate toggle in settings

Under Settings → Privacy, the option is described as "Allow us to use your voice data." For approved sessions, it permits the use of audio recordings and voice chat data to improve Anthropic's models.

In the interface reporters saw, the toggle is disabled by default, so Anthropic is not automatically opting users into sharing their recordings. The option can be switched off later, and if a user changes their mind, the company lets them delete the voice data through settings.
