Anthropic has announced Claude Duet, its own AI agent positioned against Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots. Aimed at professionals and small business owners, it is launching as a "research preview" and can be used through a standalone app on iOS and Android or via Claude on the web.

The agent is built on Claude Opus 5.5. Each morning it sends a short brief on the most important items across your connected apps, keeps an eye on them through the day, and messages you only when something genuinely needs attention.

What it does

Claude Duet can take on tasks of all sizes — from simple administrative chores like scheduling meetings to heavier lifts such as building dashboards with dozens of tools, creating financial or sales forecasts, prototyping, and building web apps. It pulls in memory, skills, and connected apps from Claude, and it has a virtual machine with a browser for getting work done.

Before any major step — say, sending a payment or deleting something — Claude Duet checks in for approval. Because the agent may handle sensitive information, it ships with a new dedicated classifier and a safety system prompt designed to reject requests to share the strictest tier of data, such as credit card numbers.

Caveats

Anthropic calls Claude Duet an "early version" and admits it "still might misread a thread or miscalibrate what's urgent." It is also not as strong at personal errands like booking tickets.

If you want to try it, you can join the waitlist — but access is limited for now: it is open only to Pro or Max subscribers in the US.
