Azure Linux 3.0.20260809: Over 233 Vulnerability Fixes
Translated by a model; the original is in Russian.
Microsoft continues to maintain Azure Linux 3.0 as the current stable, production-ready series of its in-house distribution, while working in parallel on Azure Linux 4.0 — a reworked version built on top of Fedora. The latest release, 3.0.20260809, landed overnight and brings more than 233 fixes for recent CVEs.
The bulk of the changes in this monthly update goes precisely toward addressing vulnerabilities. The security patches touch a broad range of open-source packages, among them BusyBox, Curl, Docker, Kubernetes, Perl, Python, Prometheus, Rust, PHP, Valkey, XWayland and dozens of other components.
By default, Azure Linux 3.0.20260809 still uses the Linux 6.6 LTS kernel, but the update also introduces some functional changes. In particular, FSCRYPT support has been enabled, and various fixes from the upstream Linux 6.6 branch have been pulled in. On top of that, Microsoft has added a number of its own distribution-specific fixes.
The full list of all security patches and other changes is available in the project's repository on GitHub.
