Fedora 45 is slipping again. The distribution was supposed to ship this week as its ideal early target, but no release candidate build was ready in time for last week's Go/No-Go meeting. At today's meeting the project declared a "NO-GO," pushing the release back by at least another week because of open blocker bugs.

Next week is out as well — today's meeting once more found Fedora 45 not ready to ship.

What's holding it up

Several issues made the accepted-blocker list. An update is needed to mitigate problems with eMudhra. The Fedora Server 45 AArch64 image exceeds its maximum allowed size. LVM auto-activation fails after upgrading to Fedora 45 on a LUKS-backed physical volume setup. And KDE Plasma Discover installs outdated native RPM packages from the Fedora 44 repository.

Three more bugs are being weighed as proposed blockers: no network interface configured via the ip= kernel parameter during installation; an encrypted Stratis pool failing to boot; and an encrypted Stratis root dropping to emergency mode after an unanswered passphrase prompt.

The project has also granted a handful of freeze exceptions. The current blocker list is available via qa.fedoraproject.org.

The new date

So Fedora 45 will not arrive next week. For now the planned release date is 3 November — provided those blockers are addressed by next Thursday.
