Google unveils a one-stop Gemini agent for your work tasks
Translated by a model; the original is in Russian.
Google has announced a "universal" Gemini AI agent that can operate across apps and devices in the background. Revealed Thursday at the Gemini at Work event, the tool will live inside the Gemini Enterprise app, letting users chat with the agent and hand it tasks from a single window.
One agent across every device
Beyond working directly inside Workspace apps such as Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets and Calendar, the agent can be reached from a phone, a desktop, the web, and third-party services like Slack or Microsoft 365. Because it runs in the cloud, Gemini keeps the same context across all connected devices.
Google says Gemini can also call on job-specific sub-agents to get work done, and can act as a "coworker agent" with its own identity and a dedicated "@agents.company.com" email address. For each task, Gemini automatically picks whichever AI model best fits the job.
Enterprise-only for now
The agent is currently available only to enterprise customers in a private preview. Even so, it offers a glimpse of Google's broader vision: a single AI assistant that answers questions and does work for you from one window.
Back in May the company launched its consumer-facing Gemini Spark agent, which subscribers can use to run tasks across Workspace and the web — but it lives in a separate interface within the Gemini app.
