Meta Opens an Enterprise AI Platform and Poaches MongoDB's CEO

Meta announced on Monday the launch of Meta Enterprise Platform, a new initiative meant to extend the company's AI work to businesses and corporate customers. Leading it will be Chirantan "CJ" Desai, until now the chief executive of database heavyweight MongoDB.
The venture builds on the momentum of Muse, Meta's personal AI assistant introduced earlier this month. Muse can handle tasks on a user's behalf — sending emails or booking travel, for instance.
Meta intends to bring its full technology stack to the enterprise market, including Muse, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, Muse Code and more. The bet is that the move will finally help the company earn a return on its enormous AI spending.
"Over the coming years, AI will fundamentally redefine how organizations of all sizes innovate, grow, serve customers, and run business operations," Desai said. "Meta has a unique role to play because it is bringing together advanced models and leading agents with a proven track record of helping millions of advertisers and hundreds of millions of businesses scale." The platform, he added, will focus on turning that AI stack into products and services companies can deploy for their own needs.
The abrupt exit proved costly for MongoDB: its shares fell by more than 17%. The company named Dev Ittycheria, who previously held the role, as interim chief executive while the board searches for a permanent replacement for Desai.
