NVIDIA and Two Dozen Companies Form the Open Secure AI Alliance
Translated by a model; the original is in Russian.
NVIDIA, together with more than two dozen other participants, has announced the creation of the Open Secure AI Alliance — an industry coalition intended to make the use of open artificial-intelligence models safer and more reliable. The founding members include Microsoft, Adobe, IBM, Red Hat, SpaceX, OpenClaw, Palantir and a number of other companies.
Building on existing initiatives
The alliance is built on top of Linux Foundation projects — the Akrites initiative and OpenSSF. Its stated goal is to identify, remediate and disclose vulnerabilities using open technologies.
Why defenders need open models
In its announcement, NVIDIA points to the recent security incident at Hugging Face as an instructive lesson. As the company tells it, closed AI tools, unable to tell an attacker from a defender, blocked the forensic analysis that was needed. In response, Hugging Face deployed the open GLM 5.2 model on its own infrastructure and used it to analyze more than 17,000 actions in order to pinpoint the intrusion.
This episode, the authors argue, illustrates a practical truth: when defenders cannot inspect, adapt and run advanced AI on their own infrastructure, their ability to respond is constrained at precisely the moment when speed matters most. Companies — and entire countries — need open, cutting-edge defensive tools so that critical industries can build security systems within a multi-vendor ecosystem and avoid a single point of failure.
The alliance's mission
The core mission of the Open Secure AI Alliance is framed this way: to ensure that defenders everywhere have access to open, cutting-edge tools they can trust and that remain under their control. At the same time, NVIDIA stresses that defenders need both advanced closed and advanced open models working together: this makes it possible to choose the right system for a given task and to guarantee transparency, adaptability and sovereign control wherever security demands it.
The details of the coalition are laid out in NVIDIA's announcement today.
