Valve has announced the release of the stable version of Proton 11.0-1 — the latest major update to the compatibility layer that underpins the Steam Play technology. Proton is built on top of the Wine project and makes it possible to run games originally created for Windows on Linux systems.

The new version is designed to deliver the best possible gaming experience both on classic Linux distributions and on the portable Steam Deck console, as well as on the previously announced Steam Machine.

The release of Proton 11.0-1 confirms that Valve is continuing to actively develop its Linux gaming efforts, broadening the range of devices this tool is intended for.
