Gnoppix Linux 26_11 Released with Disposable Email and a Tor-Capable Post-Quantum Messenger
Translated by a model; the original is in Russian.
Andreas Mueller has announced the release of Gnoppix Linux 26_11, an updated build of the privacy-hardened distribution. The system is based on Debian's Testing branch and ships with the Xfce desktop.
According to the developers, the release covers network management, privacy services, local AI execution and infrastructure security. Packages have also been updated across the entire system.
Networking and privacy
The gnoppixCTL utility can now select independent bridge points located in specific countries.
The Gnoppix Mail ecosystem gains a disposable email service, disposable.gnoppix.me. It provides a temporary address instantly, with no registration, so users can keep their main inbox private.
Post-quantum messenger
The project's own messenger has nearly finished migrating to post-quantum-only encryption. The release includes version 0.4.6, which supports messaging over Tor: nodes communicate directly, peer to peer, through Tor SOCKS5 proxies. For now the messenger has only a command-line interface. The team expects another 4 to 6 months of CLI development before work on a graphical interface begins.
The project has also moved its Real-time Blackhole List (RBL) to a universal format.
About the project
Gnoppix revives the idea of the original Knoppix-based live distribution with the GNOME desktop, first launched in 2002. It can run from a USB drive or be installed on a local disk. The current version comes preloaded with artificial intelligence frameworks, libraries and development tools. The project was previously called Gnoppix AI Linux. The previous release, 26_6, came out in May 2026.
The gnoppix_26_11_xfce.iso image is 5,131 MB. A SHA256 checksum is published for integrity verification.
