NetBSD 9.5 Released — the Branch's Final Release and the End of Its Support

The NetBSD project has announced the release of NetBSD 9.5 — the fifth and final release of the stable NetBSD 9 branch. The update is a curated set of fixes deemed important for reasons of security or stability, accumulated since the release of NetBSD 9.4 in April 2024. The new version is fully compatible with NetBSD 9.0.

At the same time, this release marks the end of support for all releases in the 9.x branch and for the netbsd-9 branch itself. The developers strongly recommend that anyone still on this branch move to more recent versions of the system.

The options offered for upgrading are NetBSD 11.0 (with the 11.1 release already expected at the end of the month) and NetBSD 10.2, whose release is scheduled for the coming days. The full release notes and download links are available on the project's website.
