Xbox Prices Climb in Europe: Up to €200 or £170 More
Translated by a model; the original is in Russian.
When Microsoft announced yet another Xbox price hike back in June, the company cited only its U.S. figures. Now the new prices for the European Union and the United Kingdom are known, and they look steep: depending on the model, the consoles are going up by as much as €200 or £170.
The entry-level model takes the biggest hit. The 512GB Xbox Series S jumps by more than 43%, climbing from €349.99 / £299.99 to €499.99 / £429.99. The top-end 1TB Xbox Series X with a disc drive rises by more than 30% — from £499.99 / €599.99 to £669.99 / €799.99.
Here is the full list of the new prices:
- 512GB Xbox Series S — was €349.99 / £299.99, now €499.99 / £429.99
- 1TB Xbox Series S — was €399.99 / £349.99, now €599.99 / £519.99
- 1TB Xbox Series X Digital — was €549.99 / £449.99, now €749.99 / £619.99
- 1TB Xbox Series X with a disc drive — was €599.99 / £499.99, now €799.99 / £669.99
Blame artificial intelligence
The increase is being pinned on a surge in the prices of RAM and storage: demand from the AI industry has driven up the cost of chips. Other console makers have run into the same problem, but no one's hike has been as sharp as Microsoft's.
For Xbox, this is already the third price rise since May 2025. As a result, the flagship model now costs $300 more than it did when it launched in 2020, when it went for $499.99. At the same time, the 2TB version is disappearing from the lineup — it is being discontinued because of that very same memory shortage.
Amid talk that Microsoft's console business is going through a rough patch, and with Xbox leadership laying out new priorities after a recent “reset,” the string of price hikes looks like a worrying sign for buyers.
